Tricia and I spent the weekend up at the cabin with the family for Fathers Day and for my parent’s 40th Anniversary. And on Sunday, I went biking in Itasca State Park for a hilly bike ride.
It was a relaxing weekend for the most part, although we did get the dock in which is always a tougher job than it should be. We have three ten foot dock sections with like eight foot legs that we have to carry down 30 steps to the lake. But it has to be done and it’s usually a perfect way to get the whole family up to the cabin.
Saturday night we had an Anniversary dinner for our parents. Nothing fancy, just some excellent chicken fajitas and a tres leches cake that Tricia made. And after dinner we talked about our Colombia trip and went through our 300+ pictures. I think only a few people fell asleep!
Sunday afternoon I went with my brother Greg and his wife Amy up to Itasca State Park for a bike ride. From the east entrance, it’s a nice 5 mile ride to the Headwaters of the Mississippi River along a nice paved bike path. And from there it’s about 10 more miles on a shared path with cars, along the Itasca Wilderness Sanctuary Scientific & Natural Area which contains the state’s largest Red and White Pine Trees and a few other historic sites.
It was a great bike ride, but while not a super long trail, it’s really hilly and with Greg and Amy being in much better shape then I am, I was pretty exhausted by the end.
We stayed up through Sunday night and drove back early Monday morning to go back to work. It was a great weekend but unfortunately it might be our only time up there all summer because of wedding stuff.
I really enjoyed looking at the pictures, particularly because you had so many of the Colombian people and not just of landscapes. That’s just me though. I love looking at pictures.
