Pitchfork to Launch Online Music TV Channel April 7

Pitchfork to Launch Online Music TV Channel April 7: As a visual extension of the music coverage Pitchfork has provided for more than a decade, and a means of updating and advancing the music television format, the online channel will bring you closer to the artists you love, through original mini-documentaries, secret rooftop and basement sessions, full concerts, exclusive interviews, and the most carefully curated selection of music videos online.

This should be interesting to see how this works out for Pitchfork. I already watch all of my music videos via Forkcast and other music blog feeds, but I’m looking forward to seeing what other content they will have available and more importantly, how easy it will be to use. (via MFR)

Here’s what I want in the “easy to use” category… I want a Pitchfork plugin for iTunes that works like iConcert Calendar. It would look at my music and create a customized channel just for me — reviews, videos, interviews, audio, news, etc. for bands that I like and bands that I am likely to enjoy based on the rest of my collection. It would also have a social feature, where the great and wise Moe could send me stuff that he thinks I’ll like. As a bonus, make it so eveything plays in iTunes and all DRM-free videos and mp3s download automatically to my machine. Oh, I’d be a happy man.

Yeah, what Chris said.

I agree with everything Chris said as well, except for the iTunes part. We need more competition. iTunes is nice, but it’s not perfect, and we need perfect.
