A fresh start to a difficult life at Riverside Plaza
September 2nd, 2008
MinnPost – A fresh start to a difficult life at Riverside Plaza: The 612 Authentic group and resident Abdi Hassan gives a tour of his new life at Riverside Plaza. We all know the nicknames for those buildings, but I was very surprised at how things looked. While everything looks very dated, it wasn’t as bad as I expected. Abdi gives some good points for why he likes it there and they make sense. Now I just have to work on stop using those nicknames for these buildings. (via)

I almost lived there when attending the U. The space was decent, the balcony view was great and I would’ve been allowed to paint a mural over one entire wall, which probably would’ve changed my life! However the price — at least at the time — was comparable to other places. I always felt it should’ve been discounted somewhat for the crime rate and lack of personal space in relation to massive amounts of neighbors. I ended up, of course, one block away from Santana’s and two years worth of 3-dollar steak sandwiches at 4 AM. ;) No regrets, but I never stopped casting curious glances at the multi-colored Stacks on the horizon off the tenth ave bridge.
