The goal of nearly any bike enthusiast is to inspire others to ride and enjoy the benefits of cycling through our gorgeous city.

First Bike ride of 2008

Went for my first bike ride of the year today after work since it was so nice outside. Started along the River Road in Longfellow to the Greenway, over the new bridge at Hiawatha, to Uptown and Lake Calhoun. Around the lakes and back home along the Minnehaha Creek. It was a good 20 mile ride, and I felt really smooth for it being my first ride of the season and I’m credibly out of shape!

Random Notes for a Wednesday

I bought my old house 8 years ago today (sold it last week). I never thought I’d be in that place for that long, but it was a great place, and I’ll miss it. I had some great times there that I’ll never forget.

Biking on the Parkway

Excellent post today over at the Star Tribune’s Roadguy Blog about biking on the parkway and the continual struggle between bikers and drivers. Weekend at the Cabin/Itasca

Tricia and I spent the weekend up at the cabin with the family for Fathers Day and for my parent’s 40th Anniversary. And on Sunday, I went biking in Itasca State Park for a hilly bike ride.

Bike Ride Without Falling

Wednesday I went on another fairly decent bike ride around South Minneapolis, my first since my fall last week, and it felt really good. Total distance was about 20 miles, which isn’t super long, but the longest I’ve done in the last five years at least.

Bike Ride, Bloody Knee

Went on my first long bike ride of the year tonight, riding along the river road down to the U, then across the Stone Arch Bridge to downtown and up Nicollet Ave to the Greenway, which took me to 13th Ave, past Powderhorn Park and then east back to my house.
